Hi.
I haven't been active in this community until very recently. I am currently working on a project which, when it comes to fruition, will see the publication of an anthology of flash fiction on a specified theme. I am inviting contributions from people from all walks of life - not just writers - and the entire proceeds of the venture will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, UK. Would it be acceptable for me to give a link here to the dedicated website for the project - so that people can take a look and join in if they feel so inclined?
Thanks
Thank you so much for your replies - and a special thanks to those of you who have decided to join in the fun. I'd like to answer you individually, so here goes:
Paul Jauregui - "For sale; baby shoes, unused." Mmm very interesting. I didn't come across that version. From an aesthetic point of view 'unused' doesn't feel as emotive as 'never worn' but in terms of numbers of words - of course it wins. How about "Born, lived, died" LOL
Adrian Sroka - Aesop's Fables - Mmm, very interesting concept. I might have a look at that as an idea.
Jimmy - I am accepting virtually everything, though I've heavily edited some of them in consultation with the authors. I only reject pieces that don't fit the remit or that are clearly offensive. The result is that standards differ greatly but the anthology is meant to be a book of many voices so that I don't care to interfere too much.
Emilie - Please bear with me. I will try to contribute more to your project too - it's just that I am drowning in personal and professional 'stuff' at the moment. As for using my talents - I'm always happy to help out but, as my husband is very ill, he has to be my priority now so that it's sometimes difficult to commit. But ask away and I shall do what I can - if I can.
In NO WAY am I trying to “steal talent from the competition” (I’m hoping to submit something to Baby Shoes, myself, when I can come up with some idea – best of luck, Hache!), but I reckon that writers are writers, and always on the look-out for chances to see their work published… So may I here remind people that the collective novel project is still running (see Q&As thread 8 further back from this one);and that it’s ALSO meant for good causes (profits to?… Amnesty International + Save The Children have been suggested as beneficiaries, other suggestions welcome).
And, Hache, could we borrow some of your organisational skills (when you’ve had a breather from THIS project)?
Terrible paragraph structuring!
"Trouble is, we lost money on that one: only [some of] the contributors ordered copies (aside from 1 or 2 that I managed to sell to friends). I certainly hope that you’re better at organising and marketing than I am! So no profits for seriously ill children…"
SHOULD have been:
