I've been having this argument for a while. My boyfriend seems to think that physical books will eventually die out and will be replaced by ebooks entirely. I always argue there will always be people that love the feel of a new book, the smell and the actual physicality of having that book! Almost like a trophy! What say you? Are books dying?
I have a houseful of books and no more room so I have become a fan of kindle, its so quick. Desire a particular book and it's there to read within seconds ! Love it.
Couple of weeks back I went into our local Waterstones on a whim and I was amazed. Ok it wasn't the weekend, it was half term. The store was packed, heaving with people of all ages
So I guess traditional books live on !
That's a good thing
I love my Kindle. :D Sorry guys. I can read it while my hubby sleeps. I can swap between stories and even work on my own writing on it. It is also light in weight and can stand on my bedside table while I'm all snug and warm in bed.
I can't do e-books either - I love to read and re-read the books in my house, going back to them is like rediscovering an old friend. The smell of a new book reminds me of being on holiday, the feel of opening the pages for the first time can't, in my mind, be equalled by holding a tablet and swiping across the pages. I think, I hope, that there will always be people who love the feel of a real book in their hands.
