I have been offered a contract with Austin !Macauley to produce a book and market it - I am inexperienced in this area and have read that whilst the company produces the book, the quality is not great - they do not have a good reputation. Can anyone offer advice about this as it could be a way of getting a book out - there is a contribution but there would be if I self published anyway and they do offer an illustrator?
Many thanks
Lynn
I fully agree with Jeremy they are vanity publishers and earlier today I was reading a an article on that very company, it slammed them, one point was that a woman who was dying with cancer wanted to publish her poems so her children would have something form her (not sure if that meant the book or her hopes of making cash for them) they asked her for wait for it... £7000,00 seven grand and no marketing and not only that they have sole rights to your manuscript you have no chance.
WIDE BERTH!!!!

You are taking a step in a difficult way, but you succeed
I self publish through Amazon (KDP), it's a very straightforward process and you get to set the price which drives what you receive in royalties.
