Blogging

I completed my first novel before Christmas and have sent it out to some agents without success (so far!). In an effort to raise my 'web presence' as a writer - which I've heard from various sources is important if you're trying to get published - I've started a blog (www.diydecoratingdame.wordpress.com). A good idea or not? And anyone got any suggestions on how I go about raising the profile of my blog?

Over the past few years I've often heard of the need for writers to create an identity (a market?) for themselves via a blog, Facebook, even Twitter, and therefore toyed with the idea, getting as far as setting up an account via wordpress and not any further - I failed to write a single blog . . .

I am therefore keen to explore Jean's advice concerning 'The Creative Penn' and see whether I ought to get blogging. However, I do know several writers who blog and use Facebook to post their latest offer and, I must say, I find it rather annoying because they only post on Facebook to peddle their wares. If they used FB on a regular basis - not just when they want to advertise their goods - I would be more accepting and less peeved.

Like Elaine I've finished my book and started sending it out to agents. Was thrilled when one asked to see the full manuscript, and even tho the agent ended up not wanting it I got some good crit. I've also considered starting a blog or website, am collecting lots of info, so my thanks too to Jean. Will check out creativepenn
