book investors

Hi I am new to this bloging so please bear with me.

My son wrote a book which we got self published and now we are trying to get news of his story and his book out there to the public. The company I used mentioned something about needing a book investor but wanted to charge £900 a month for 4 month to try and find one! does anyone know how this works and if it is possible to approach them as a member of the public?

I don't know anything about this 'book investor' thing but it sounds dodgy!

My understanding is that self-publishing involves a huge amount of work & dedication to market the book using all the social media channels, personal appearances at the local bookshop, visits to schools & so on. There's lots of info on this site if you trawl through it.

I have to agree with Kate what a brilliant way of making money from writing, don't bother to write anything yourself but get people to pay you to send letters to agents, costing what? Oh yes the price of a stamp. I would run a mile, and I'm gullible!
