The 23rd of April is "El Dia de Sant Jordi" (St. George's Day) in Catalunya and it's traditional to buy your loved one(s) a book or a rose. (Traditionally and sexistly, a book for a man and a rose for a woman, but times have changed, thank Feminism!) Several streets in the centre of Barcelona (including Las Ramblas) will be lined with book stalls (and rose stalls), and I hope that one of them will be mine. (Though it certainly won't be on Las Ramblas.)
I was badly informed (by an editor who agreed to bring out one of my children's books, then decided not to) as to the time for applying for permission to set up a stall, so I missed the deadline (by a month or two!). But my application WAS admitted for processing and I'm hoping that they'll make room for me.
Are any Spain-based users of this web-site planning to be in Barcelona on the day? Maybe we could meet up. (I'll be wearing a fiery orange beard and hair: doing the henna job tomorrow...)
Last minute, before I jump in the shower and head off to set up the stall...
I'll be at Pg. de Sant Joan, 100, 2nd stall from the "lower right-hand" (looking at city map) corner with Diagonal. Wish me luck!
James... a picture of my bum!!! people might think I have a split personality! Paul
Paul, I wish that I could give you a double thumbs up for that one! Delightful. You can see me with the henna (a previous hennaing that had long since grown out when my profile picture was taken) at http://la-granota.com/comp.htm (as of a few minutes ago, also available in Spanish at http://la-granota.com/fiesta.htm)
Are you going to post any photos of your bum?
