Feeling under the weather big time...

Hi writers,

I have been under the weather all this week after showing my work to a person I thought would love it, instead they shot my dream down in seconds using words like 'this really isin't great, honestly who would want to by this?' Now i'm left wondering if he really did have a point, but I dont know what I should do.... Give up or try again.

I always think that the person I show it to will hate it. Honestly I do so when they do I'm not surprised and when they don't I'm happy but I always end up asking them the same question... What is wrong with it? Go back to the begining if you have to and ask yourself how you got to that particular point. Do you still like it? If the idea is good then your writing can be great. It just might take some work. If it was easy then it wouldn't really be worth it. Just keep trying :D

A key point made to me by an excellent creative writing tutor, was don't show anything to friends or loved ones until it is published. I had a short story published in a county magazine and when I showed it to my father he was quite critical about the story. If I'd shown it to him before publication would I have sent it off? I doubt it.

I don't particularly like Dan Brown's style or his story-lines, but has that stopped him from earning millions from his writing - I res my case!

Keep writing, Theodore, and keep the faith!
