Good places to write?

So I have finished my first chapter, read it back and edited it. It sound's great and I'm really pleased but it took me longer than I thought because I couldn't find a really good place to just get on with it.

What works best for you guys? Do you write in a cafe? in the night? In the day? Whilst your drunk? lol

Let me know.

Cheers!

I write when inspiration hits, where ever I am or whatever I'm doing, try it :) I feel like the things I bash out then are of much better quality than when I forcefully sit down without feeling the flow.

Thanks guys, that's good to know. I think the key thing that comes up here is being alone, I never understood going to a coffee shop, theres too much going on there.

Up until recently I'd always have something on in the background as I've never been keen on silence and now I find it irritating and turn it off, think I need my own study, may get my own mini bar in there eh Jonathan? ;)

Usually late at night, I carry a notebook in my handbag - and have been known to scribble away and jot down ideas just about anywhere. I then try and decipher all my notes and use them when I manage to get a bit of 'me time', which as I said at the beginning is usually late at night. I prefer to do my writing in the dining room - or in the kitchen. rather than in the study. I find it difficult to write outside using my laptop - I can never see the screen properly. I will write in longhand in cafes and coffee shops(I hate carting my laptop around when I'm out and about.
