Hello, I'm new here and testing the waters. I'm an illustrator looking to broaden my horizons within publishing. I've taken a look around and read some interesting articles on illustration but I'm haven't seen a great deal of activity from other illustrators. Is this predominantly a writers site? I was hoping to share my work and get i touch with like minded writers and naturally find some work too.
You can take a look at my portfolio here: http://chriswharton.com
Thanks!
:) So's mine, wrestling with the end of my (adult) book and attending London Book Fair. I'll dig it out of whatever notebook it's lurking in- I wrote it for my son and I think he is the only one who has heard it.
Wana pm me your email address and I'll send it over? Can see what you think and let ideas mull.
Thank you for taking a peek at my portfolio, I'm glad you liked it. Most of my commissions are editorial and info-graphic related but I am making in-roads with publishing. As you're all no-doubt fully aware its a saturated market and delivering the right work to the right people is the name of the game.
Do most of you use listings and carpet bomb various commissioning editors, or do you have a more specific and targeted approach to your campaigns?
Fox I'd love to read your poem and perhaps we can do something together. My work schedule is a little busy for the next few weeks though, but if you're in no hurry maybe we can figure something out.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment and giving me your input.
You are in the right place, you just have to be active here to get in touch with right people. I have seen some people Talking about Children's Picture book here some days later and I can see some collaborations coming, all the best.
Hemingway is my favourite writer and old man and the sea my fav book. I went thru ur work and loved it.
