I have just missed the deadline for getting my recently-born publishing concern into the WAYB listings for 2016.
So I'm using this Q&A option to get the word out. Anyone interested?
BE WARNED: NO advance royalties; a shoestring budget; and a long list of disadvantages...
BUT if you think of it as a "self-publishing agency" that DOESN'T ask you for £500 upfront and ISN'T modestly shy about telling you what %age of profits on sales you'll make, you might just be interested.
Biggest advantage: We don't tie you to a contract, so that whenever you find a publisher elsewhere which can offer you a better deal, you're free to follow it up.
HOWEVER: We DO have strict standards, so please read http://la-granota.com/press.htm CAREFULLY before submitting.
Morning J H. First congratulations on having the "guts" to do what a lot of us dream of but have no idea where to begin. I think we know you will now be inundated with loads of good stuff. I hope you get it off the ground, well so far off the ground it goes atmospheric! If there is no time restriction on submitting I would like to in the near future submit a story I wrote years ago and my wife illustrated, her medium is pencil colour and her work is excellent. It needs quite a lot of work on the story as it was the first "proper" story I wrote in the early 1980s. It was accepted unfortunately the publisher stopped children's work and concentrated on their main role of university text books, hey ho. The publisher had the cheek to ring and ask for an original piece of artwork for his office, he didn't get one lol. I am in the middle of hopefully the last edit of my novel and the dreaded synopsis so I can't work on the old one just yet, hence the need for time. I'm now going to read CAREFULLY what I need to know. Once again I hope it runs away and you need to go into overdrive to cope. I mean that in a good way.
Regards Paul G
