Music and Writing

When writing do you listen to music to inspire your work? And if so what music do you choose to listen to and why? Or do you find that listening to music distracts you too much while your writing? I've always liked listening to music while I'm writing but what do other users think?

Hi Lily.

Depends what I'm writing, each artist or group brings different emotional reactions. So it could be Helen Jane Long, City and Colour, Adele, White Lies, or whatever else takes my fancy to get those creative juices flowing.

Hi Lily,

It depends sometimes I listen to music or the radio while I work and other times I find it irritates me so I just switch it off.

Hi Lily

I have 'magic' radio station on low whist I write. The songs are mellow and lyrical, and when I want to get into a characters mind, I often find the lyrics of these songs help me to find, and express inner turmoil.
