Is anyone taking part in NaNoWriMo this year? I have decided to take part but Im nervous I wont do so well. Im challenging myself with time I dont have to complete a brand new Novel. All the while I have not even finished my first Novel that I started 5 years ago. Is this a good idea?

I'm going for it this year. I'll try and get to some of the London write-ins too, although I'm wary about losing my word count to chatting and social media (I'm presuming the 1000 words on Twitter lamenting my writer's block won't be accepted as part of the 50,000)

I'm doing it, although I'm working on ~the novel~ at the same time, I think it's mot a bad idea at all.

This year I'm not writing a NaNo novel, but rather two novellas (aiming at 25~K each), and though I'm usually an edit-while-writing kind of writer and like to take my time, I think NaNo will do me well. I think it does everyone well, really. It allows us to give a thought to all those ideas swarming in our minds, without letting them take over completely. If you realise you're bored by the NaNo idea, great, at least you know that. If you finish it, also great, and you can leave it aside to edit it once you have more time. Even if it stays really interested and keeps you occupied after Nano, it's a good thing - when something takes over like that, it's usually worth it.

Good luck reaching your goal ;)

Good luck to those that enter, but it's not for me.

I'm a slow deliberate writer. I partly edit the previous passage of text I wrote before I continue my next writing session. Besides, I would not attempt to write 30,000 words in a month.
