Responce from an agent, how long to wait?

hi, I've sent my first three chapters of my manuscript off to my selected agencies. While most of them say that they will respond in up to 6-8 weeks, do they really that long or are they just saying that to prevent being bombarded with questions?

thanks,

Don't sit clock watching... I think agents need to improve somewhat. I am with Victoria when she says most have not been read.

The age of self-publishing is growing and yet agents still don't give a SHXX. without a name you are just a blip to them.

Good luck and hope your a winner...

Hi Kimberley,

Agent response times are surprisingly long but also pretty accurate if you read their websites, etc. Anything short of three months is good - anything over and you can generally nudge once without it being too big a deal.

If you get a reply in 6 weeks you are doing well.
