Sharing Stories Here

Hi all. If I post a complete short story here, will that affect possible publication later on? Ie: does posting a story here count as publication? Thanks:)

The Bloomsbury T&Cs are a catch-all, backside-covering exercise designed to avoid any potential litigation whatsoever. Standard practice on most commercial websites that encourage posting.

You can safely ignore them in relation to 'previously published'.

I've not yet had an issue with posted excerpts, though to be fair my first story, posted on Authonomy in its entirety, failed to find a traditional publisher. The thing is I later changed it, anyway, a pretty common occurrence I'd have thought. So you could argue the edited version wasn't the same story.

There may be restrictions placed by the intended publisher, Helen; you'd need to look at their rules and requirements at the time. Some will accept work that has been put out on a private site, others may deem that as having been published already, even thought the copyright remains with you and it wasn't in a fully public domain.
