Using Social Network

I'm wondering if any of you kind peeps can advise me regarding the use of social network sites to attract attention to a forthcoming novel. I'm a self employed established songwriter and performer. Facebook and YouTube have been invaluable to me regarding pr for my music but and here's the big but. I'm now embarking on my first novel and this is unknown territory for me. I'm excited but slightly nervous about my journey. I'm wondering if publishers shy away from social media promoting before they are approached?

Replies

I've been using fb and twitter for some years for my songwriting, it's worked wonderfully for promotion and gaining a larger following. However I'm unsure if my new venture would benefit from the same approach. Thank you again for your reply.

Reddit and Wattpad can be good to get some interest generated for your book. Twitter is good for general tweets and getting your book out there.

Thank you for your reply Antoinette, I have started a separate fb page as an author but will be mindful what I post. People who follow my music will now see a slightly more reserved person until it's nearer the time :-)
