Hello;
My question is. Can I use the term 'Hive City' in my own science fiction novel as reference to my own cities?
This term is widely utilised in the Warhammer 40K universe as reference to a large populace within a very largely constructed city. I like the concept from an inspirational standpoint only.
Thanks
Thanks everyone, some fantastic responses there. I think the term is heavily utilised to explain a congregation of people forced inside a structure to work and maintain. I loved the idea within the genre of SciFi which made me ask.
Warhammer 40K for those who are unfamiliar with it is a massively vast and deep science fiction world where every day is a struggle for mankind. A lot of the cohabited planets this is centred around have sky reaching cities and structures called Hives but the Games Workshop that owns Warhammer 40K were not really clear with their policies so i just changed it altogether thanks to a push from Tim Childs.
Thanks everyone
Thanks David. I'm certain if you are writing in any genre you will come up with something with a little time reflecting. Are you putting any stories up here? How do you do that btw? Are there any limitations on words?
If the term 'Hive City' - with capitals - is used in another work, that is part of the intellectual property of the author. The term and concept of 'the hive' is not - it refers to a structure created by and housing insects, then extrapolated to describe a form of city/structure/living system.
