What should I do?

I've been writing poetry for ages now and a teacher recommended that I submit it for publishing. Who should I submit it to and how? I'm quite young.

You may want to have a look on the Writers' News/Writing Magazine website, and possibly even subscribe. They run competitions every month, and have lots of articles aimed at poets, written by some very experienced people. If you're lucky enough to be picked as a winner or runner-up, you'll be published. Sometimes, they pick a piece they've been sent and critique it (not usually by picking it to pieces, though you will want to read it as a positive, helpful piece, rather than as pulling your work apart).
