My desk (& my lovely new PC, which I got today - first 1000 words written!) is in my dining room. But I'm not happy with it. And I can't find any space where I might be happy with it! Plus it's too chuffing small...
Caused me to wonder, where are your writing spaces?
Today's writing spot is in the garden, making the most of the rapidly dwindling summer. The cider has helped less than I'd hoped though, so today will probably be written off after all.
Usually I sit at my little desk, nestled in the tiny corner of the conservatory that I've managed to claim as my own. It is bright, comfortable and has plants and things, so I like it.
I tend to write in notebooks, with a good old fashioned pen, so I can write anywhere I please.
When I'm editing (On my laptop) I like to be in my bedroom, but when writing on paper, I like to be in a bookstore.
My usual space is on a mezzanine directly under the pitched roof, with a Velux window to my left. In summer it is far too hot, so at present I'm at the back of the sitting room, which isn't ideal. I have an Ikea desk - a pair of trestles and a pine top, so it's moveable. In the garden is a ruined little house, which one day will be transformed into a separate office, with its own heater. It's currently home to swallows in the summer and a jenny wren in the winter, so we've got to get in there in between nesting times, which so far we haven't managed. Got to be alert round here!
