Making Magic Real with Leone Ross

18th June 2025 8:00pm to 9:00pm

Ever picked up a fantasy novel or work of magic realism and found yourself lost in another world? Wished you could go visit? From Narnia to Game of Thrones’ Westeros, from Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ Macondo to Tolkien’s iconic Middle Earth, worlds with magic can inspire connection, satirise reality and offer important ideas about humanity. So how do we make magic in stories feel like it could actually happen? How do we suspend readers’ disbelief and help them roll with the weird?

Leone Ross created a magical land called Popisho (This One Sky Day) that makes people want to live there and you can, too.
