The Publishing Conference 2021

Comma Press and Manchester Metropolitan University present The Publishing Conference 2021. 

The Publishing Conference is a two-day online event for aspiring and early-career publishers, designed to make publishing more transparent and to increase accessibilty to the sector, particularly for those in the North of England where the conference would usually take place.

Two free events will be live-streamed: An introduction to publishing with James Spackman (24th April) and a How to break into the industry panel (25th April). 

For just £25 (bursaries available – please see below), aspiring and early-career publishers will have access to nine sessions delivered by professionals from across the industry, taking place over two days. This paid part of the conference includes the following presentations and workshop:

Sunday 25th April

Marketing with Alesha Bonser (Penguin Random House), 13.40-14.10

Audio with Marina Stavropoulou (Bonnier Books UK), 14.20-14.50

Starting your own press with Kit Caless (Influx), 15.00-15.30

Workshop: CV and interview skills with Debbie Williams (Publishing @ MMU), 16.00-17.30

BURSARIES

There are limited FREE sponsored tickets available for aspiring publishers who are underrepresented by the industry, including people of colour, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people and those in a low-income household. Please email [email protected] to apply.
