In this inclusive interactive in-person workshop for writers of all abilities, learn tools and techniques to help you generate stories, create characters, write dialogue and structure & format scripts for TV, film and radio.
The workshop will be delivered by James McDermott who has written multiple episodes of EastEnders, plays for BBC Radio 4, and lectures in creative writing at the University of East Anglia.
James McDermott's plays, published by Samuel French , include Jab (Finborough Theatre; nominated for an Off West End Theatre Award for Best New Play 2024), Time and Tide (Park Theatre/tour; nominated for an Off West End Theatre Award for Best New Play 2020) and Rubber Ring (Pleasance Islington/tour). James has also written multiple episodes of EastEnders and audio drama for BBC Radio 4. James's poetry collections include Father Myself (Nine Arches Press), Wild Life (Nine Arches Press; longlisted for the New Angle Prize 2024; shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Award 2023) and Erased (Polari Press). His poems have been widely published in journals including Poetry Wales, Magma, The North, Butcher's Dog and Fourteen Poems. James is an Arvon writing tutor, teaches playwriting for the National Theatre's New Views Programme, and lectures in creative writing at the University of East Anglia.
