Writing Cosy Crime

21st April 2026 7:00pm to 8:30pm, Online

From daggers in dining rooms to sleepy towns full of secrets, cosy crime is soaring in popularity.

Whether you want to be the next Richard Osman or Janice Hallett, cosy crime writer Jo Middleton will guide you through the key things you need to know to write successfully in the genre, including top tips on creating believable suspects, clues, and motives.

Together you’ll explore how to write warm, witty whodunnits that balance murder with charm, humour and heart. Jo will discuss how to give the classic cosy crime a modern twist, where readers come for the mystery but stay for the characters, comedy, and voice.

The session will end with a brief Q&A, so come ready with your questions.

The masterclass will take place online via Teams. It will also be recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you'll be able to catch-up and access the recording for up to two weeks after the event has taken place.
