Age you can be published from

I know I am not ready to be published yet, however I was wondering if there was a minimum age you have to be when trying to get an agent and published. Also I am going to university this September and although I will be doing a degree in History I believe there are groups for creative writing. Would anyone recommend my joining or will the be a hinderence as a opposed to a benefit? Thank you

Take a look at Between The Lines by Jodi Piccoult and Samantha Van Leer. Samantha is Jodi's daughter and was well under 16 when the book was published. It's a good read too.

Whether a group will be of benefit depends on the group. I would join a few and stick with the best one, if you can find more than one. Writers' groups are thinly spread in some areas.
