Hello,
I'm new to W&A - just joined today. I'd really like to get some feedback on some of my work, but I don't think I fit with everyone else's genres. I've been writing children's picture book stories in rhyme. Can anyone suggest where I can find some like-minded writers? Also, I feel a bit apprehensive about sharing my work here - if it is in a public forum like this, does that affect the chances of it being published in any way?
Thanks,
Rachael
Hi rachel - I write for young adults - age 12 - 90 - Have written stories aimed t younger children. I'm lucky in my group (Slough Writers) - members there cover about every genre - a couple of them have written stories aimed at children - I find it doesn't make much difference to the quality of feedback I get - but perhaps that is just my group
Hello Rachael, I just joined today too! I wrote a short, humorous story for children yesterday having been inspired by a comment I heard on the radio. I sent the story to the presenter of the radio show and he liked it so much he sent it to his editor with the view of possibly reading it on the show - nothing back so far!
Unfortunately I need to get on and do other things to earn a living but I do feel my story would bring a smile to faces and would love to publish it (and follow my character through other amusing situations). I'd like to know if it is possible to/should one copyright a character? Also, what I should do next given my other commitments?
Hi Rachael - I didn't set out to concentrate on writing for children but that's what I seem to be doing. Nice to see there are a few others too.
