Changes

I've been a member of this site for years and always found there were people willing to leave feedback for other users to improve their writing... Now the site seems to have dwindled and the users posting work are no longer receiving the great feedback I love this site for. I understand people have lives and are busy, but it really is a shame to see a site go from being well used to users seemingly ignore one another's work πŸ˜” Hopefully when times are less busy for everyone the feedback will commence

I would like to echo Paul's comment, I certainly do not feel qualified to critique someone's work unless perhaps, there was something factual within my psychology work I can add. On the other hand, I aways gobble up any feedback on my own work, however broad or detailed.

The point about time pressures is equally valid. If I'm on the forum, it means I'm not writing, something that most of us have to fit around other possibly more financially necessary pressures.

Perhaps if we can all agree to just say SOMETHING when work is put up; be it a full critique,or just a simple comment-"liked it"; "Not my thing"; "didn't understand xxx motives;"- that sort of thing then we would know it had been read.

It has to be cooperative: I should be putting in more than I am receiving at present and I have given myself a dammed good talking to about that!.

*contemplating my weight in gold!*

Thanks to you both for your comments - it's good to know that what I do is useful to you. I'm aware that many novice writers, if I can use the phrase, can't afford proper editing, and it does show in the end product. What I try to do is give you a complete edit of one piece, maybe two, so that you can see the difference even small changes can make.

The problem is with the time taken - can't do it for everyone, or I'd never get anything else done. I've got tennis elbow as a result of mouse use - computers are dangerous!

May I just say that no-one should feel it's a criticism if I can't look at their work - again, it's simply that there aren't the hours in the day.

I completely agree Paul! I could never thank Lorraine enough for her feedback, as you said it really is worth her weight in gold! As said before I wasn't trying to cause upset; I have and probably always will love this site and the people within this community of writers. Granted you have one or two negative people that the admin remove but almost all the others have never caused any upset nor any negative feeling to this site. I for one think this site shows just how well a community of people with shared interests can work together, even with my observation. I like you Paul come on the site and look at the questions and like you find mine answered often by another person asking which is great! And I too feel rude if I leave feedback that is too, shall we say, nitty picky, but there are some people on here who much prefer that feedback! Have a wonderful day all users on this site and may your writing future be as you wish it to ☺️
