Italics in posted material

I recently made an attempt to post an excerpt here that was rife with italics (internal dialog). The system didn't pick up the italics. I know that Microsoft word has a few issues with cut and paste into web forms, and I have tried using "Textpad" and find it extremely cumbersome. What are some of your favorite text editor programs? Any suggestions?

The change I made here also dropped my posted story so forgive me if I re-post.

Thanks all!

Oh, though it has nothing to do with italics, my favourite text editor program is Scrivener (http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php). Easily one of the best tools around for writers.

I think you'll find it's the way an awful lot of 'direct input' sites work. It's why you have to line space paragraphs and speech. Dedicated peer-review sites are mostly the same, in my experience

You just have to go with the flow ;)

For some reason, italics are not supported is the Shared Works section. If you write a blog, you have such editing tools at you disposal. Direct your queries to Admin, who have said they would look into it, this in response to a query I made in 2013.
