I have an idea for a comedy movie that I think could be interesting to work on, but I have never written any kind of script before. Has anyone had any experience or thoughts about script writing?

<p>This is a bit off the wall, but I was once asked to write a few pantomines which were performed in front of totally inebriated audiences. </p><p>The first one Aladdin I did by breaking down the Disney version in to acts and rewriting from scratch, The Toga Party was a number of scenes knitted together and the third, a spoof on the Bond films, required extensive viewings before distilling the essential ingredients for a Bond movie and again writing it from scratch. So I would either write your sketches and knit them together or go with story line and build the comedy around moving the story forward</p><p>It was such a ball! So - whatever happens definately do it!</p><p></p><p>I don't know if it is possible or something which you would want to do, but once the scripts were done I did allow my actors and actresses to tweak their lines. This gave their characters more individual voices, and of course they were inspired towards the best action/ lines. Also playing out infront of a live audience gives you instant feedback on whether it is working ...so if you have an amateur dramatics group near you which you have some respect for you could get them to run an eye over it, or even perform it. (My first sketches were performed at an amdram dinner and it was an amazing rush when people start to laugh) It might not be something which a WI blue rinse Amdram society might appreciate but if not there is always amdram at Universities. </p><p>Best of luck!</p>
Have you heard of Script Frenzy? It's kind of the less well-known sister of Nanowrimo. Nanowrimo is the challenge to write 50,000 words of a novel in November each year and Script Frenzy challenges the brave to write 100 pages of script in the month of April. (Some would say it is quite apt that it starts on April fools day. Don't listen to them!)
Anyway, you might not want to participate fully but centred around both events is a great online community providing fantastic support throughout the months of April and November. If you have questions about scriptwriting, that's probably the best place to take them. Especially as the website has pages of information about how to format and other useful info. Also, Nanowrimo has amazing city coordinators who organise writing meets throughout the month. I don't know if Script Frenzy works the same way but I suspect it does as I've just checked how you sign up and one of the first things it asked for is your region. You can see how many people have signed up from your area here.
