Hello all. I have, throughout my novel used " for speech marks. All the books I have read, I have only just noticed (like you do after how many years?) that all speech is ' and not " which are used for quotation marks. Now my question is... how can I change them all without having to change every single one manually, is there a way a way I can change them all. I'm using office word 365. For those who answered my question on renewing office 365 I couldn't take the chance of losing all my work so I gave in and paid up.
Regards Paul
Paul, you may find the US punctuation varies to UK. I believe they use double speech marks, wheras we us single.
Thanks you two. Adrian, I will find that tool it looks like it may come in handy for other things as well.
Jonathan, I was taught the same as you, that is why I just carried on. Hey ho, it's one dilemma after another lol. Thank you both again.
PS I do hope you are fully recovered after the accident Jonathan and I hope they sort your car out without any problems.
Regards Paul.
Microsoft Word has some useful tools.
One is called - Replace.
You put the punctuation or word you don't want in the the box - Find.
Then put the new punctuation or word in the box - Replace.
Click the box Replace All, and all the punctuation or words will be changed throughout your manuscript.
I hope that helps.
Good luck.
