speech marks

Hello all. I have, throughout my novel used " for speech marks. All the books I have read, I have only just noticed (like you do after how many years?) that all speech is ' and not " which are used for quotation marks. Now my question is... how can I change them all without having to change every single one manually, is there a way a way I can change them all. I'm using office word 365. For those who answered my question on renewing office 365 I couldn't take the chance of losing all my work so I gave in and paid up.

Regards Paul

Why change them? They're grammatically correct and the fact is not everyone uses single quotation marks for speech and doubles for quotes - I was always taught that was actually incorrect.

Publishers use singles and doubles depending on their individual preferences. Since I suggest they're hardly likely to refuse anything they consider will make them money simply because they don't want to change the version you've used, let them have the hassle.
