Are you a fan of the semi-colon? I confess that I’m not. I try to keep my sentences as short as possible. One thought one sentence - Bertrand Russell. Besides, there appears to be a dearth of semi-colons in contemporary novels. I use speech marks, apostrophes and hyphens, but my punctuation mostly consists of commas and full stops.
I read many years ago that it was a tradition among writers - something of a rite of passage - to steal a copy of your own [first] book from a bookstore. Of course, back then, there weren't as many video cameras as there are now.
After everything I've been through trying to publish Jacob Jones I didn't believe it could get any worse. Today I received my MRI scan results and it was not good news so my advice to anyone with a passion for writing would be.. Write until you cannot write any more. Don't stop even if your fingertips are bleeding If you love what you do live it, smell it, taste it and believe in it. I am only 43 and after today I have no regrets In writing Jacob Jones. I am proud of my small achievement and very proud to all you that had your input and helped me on my way. Thank you all.
