speech marks

Hello all. I have, throughout my novel used " for speech marks. All the books I have read, I have only just noticed (like you do after how many years?) that all speech is ' and not " which are used for quotation marks. Now my question is... how can I change them all without having to change every single one manually, is there a way a way I can change them all. I'm using office word 365. For those who answered my question on renewing office 365 I couldn't take the chance of losing all my work so I gave in and paid up.

Regards Paul

I change using find and replace and so far no problems. I first put " followed by a space into find then put the press alt and 0145 numbers (open) into replace to change them. Then I put " followed by a space into find then put the press alt and 0146 (close) into replace to change the rest. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you for that Lorraine, I hadn't considered that. However it will be edited yet again by my wife once I have made all the corrections she has pointed out. Many thanks, as always Paul.

One word of caution, Paul - you must check your work thoroughly after using 'search and replace'. It sometimes causes bloopers that you don't expect!
