What platform do you use to write?

Do you use Microsoft Word, Ibook, or any other? What about editing and proofing? Just a software spell and grammar check, besides manual proofing or is there advice on how to do this better?

Hi Simon,

It's very easy to save documents in .doc format even as the default in Open Office so that anyone can read them. There are many options available.

Tools, Options, Load/Save ... choose which format to save from the dropdown menu. I save mine as 'Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP' Scroll up to find it. This setting will always save new documents as .doc so that other people can read them without problems.

:)

Good old fashioned Word, backed up to Dropbox and (if I'm away from home computer) Gmail Drive. Also write in Notepad for more (perceived) freedom. Have heard v. good things about Scrivener. I used Open Office for a time but it became annoying sending files back and forth to those who used / didn't use Word.
