Do you use Microsoft Word, Ibook, or any other? What about editing and proofing? Just a software spell and grammar check, besides manual proofing or is there advice on how to do this better?

I think you use a Mac right? I use windows and I wrote on Word until recently; I've since changed to Open Office which is free and much better in my opinion, though is many ways it's the same so has a familiar interface.
Don't rely on these programs for spelling and grammar as they can leave you with some ghastly errors. Nothing beats reading your manuscript out loud ... until you're sick of it if necessary. I also pushed friends to read it ... but managed to keep them :)
