Do you use Microsoft Word, Ibook, or any other? What about editing and proofing? Just a software spell and grammar check, besides manual proofing or is there advice on how to do this better?
thanks Renee-Ibook I think is better than word for its format, but I keep pushing myself to read out aloud as well.
Frank-that is an excellent and exhaustive list-thanks so much. thanks for reminding me about backups. Thanks for telling em about Scrivener-it was recommended by someone else and I will get a free trial for my next novel.
Sonar 3; have to check it for submissions-currently I am manually filing stuff away on my desktop.
I have heard of evernote, but never used it. Never heard of web links. Perhaps should get these apps for my smart phone. I carry a notebook to write ideas, and get frustrated if I have forgotten one (many times).
It was fun reading your author bio. I have written few short stories and also enter competitions. I too hope to get something published soon-am keeping at it!
I use Word/LibreOffice depending which platform I am on. (Ubunto or Windows 8)
All work gets saved on Dropbox + GDrive + Skydrive
I have downloaded Scrivener (Free Trial) to see if its something I could use and it is looking promising. I also use Sonar 3 - a free submission tracking tool. As I tend to have a lot of stuff out for consideration on various On-line Magazines or upcoming Anthologies. And it keeps me in the loop of what is going on submission wise.
I also use Evernote for Notes and Web Links. Again I must state this is how I work. Someone else may find it easier with a pen and paper. Its up to the individual what works for them.
And last I will quote Alec Cizak from an interview he did on http://fulldarkcity.com/
# People say there are no original ideas. Those people are dinosaurs with tar on their brains. Tell me a story I'm going to remember. And by God, learn how to write so that your language explodes off the page!#
